Trying to stay cool while visiting the stunning Himeji Castle, near Kyoto

Hi there,

I hope you are having some fun in this hot, crazy month of July. The heat in Japan is off the charts, but worth enduring. I have a lot on my mind. A lot. Hopefully I can put down my thoughts sometime soon, I’ve been trying to give time to properly digest them. I am wondering about so many things. My Japanese roots, how we live in the US, why we do things a certain way, and so much more. I’ve been surprised by how I feel. More on this later.

In the meantime, we dropped Episode 5 of Wealthy The Matriark Podcast with the Founders of L’Avant Collective Kristi Lord and Lindsay Droz. We talk about friends going into business together, starting something new when you are 40, Gwyneth Paltrow, RBG and so much more. I hope you can listen, it’s an amazing episode. Thank you Kristi and Lindsay for your openness and candor!

OK, onto our regular programming!

Greetings from beautiful Tokyo, where I’ve been staying with my family for the past few weeks. Leaving my daily routine behind for a place as beautiful, deep, and wildly different as Japan has been both stressful and mind blowing.

The sheer scale of life here, the stimulation, rituals, the contrasts, the care in every detail have reminded me how inspiring travel is to me. It shakes loose the dust, and puts things in perspective. The world is huge, and I am small, and that’s a wonderful thing.
